Ray First Woman to Complete
Avenger Master Gunner Course

 
ADA realized a significant milestone this month, when Staff Sergeant (SSG) Jessica Ray became the first woman to complete the arduous six-week Avenger Master Gunner (AMG) course.

SSG Ray is a member of A Battery, 3rd Battalion, 265th Air Defense Artillery (A/3-265th ADA), 164th ADA Brigade, Florida Army National Guard (FLARNG) based in Sarasota, Florida. SSG Ray viewed her graduation from the top-level school as a huge accomplishment for women in the military.

Sergeant (SGT) Benjamin C. Franklin wanted that promotion bad -- so bad, that he pushed himself hard enough to attain the highest possible promotion points (798) attainable for selection to Staff Sergeant (SSG). Franklin is an outstanding noncommissioned officer (NCO) and Air Defense Artillery (ADA) Soldier serving as an MOS 14J
(Air Defense Command, Control, Communication, Computers and Intelligence [C4I] Tactical Operations Center Enhanced Operator/Maintainer) assigned to HHC, 1-59 CAB at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
