  3-2 ADA Settling into South Korea
Patriot battalion soldiers build strong ties with host community

Suwon Air Base, Republic of Korea—Since replacing the 1st Battalion, 7th Air Defense Artillery, in South Korea on 23 May 2008, the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Air Defense Artillery, has participated in several community relations and “good neighbor” events while assuming its air and missile defense mission.  Throughout the month of June 3-2 ADA leaders met with and will continue to meet with key leaders from the Suwon and Gyeonggi-do communities. 

          During a meeting with Yong Seo Kim, the mayor of Suwon City, 3-2 ADA was cordially invited to this year’s Peace Queen Cup soccer tournament being held in Suwon Stadium from 13 June to 21 June. The city donated over 200 tickets to the soldiers of 3-2 ADA.  Many Soldiers were excited to watch the U.S. women’s national team defeat the Australian women's national team 2-1.  After the game members of the U.S. national team spent time conversing and taking pictures with the Soldiers of 3-2 ADA. 

Soldiers of 3-2 ADA celebrated the U.S. Army's  birthday by hosting a Korean-American pool tournament.


     To celebrate the US Army’s 233rd birthday, 3-2 ADA hosted a Korean-American pool game in the Suwon Air Base Community Activities Center. Trophies were issued to Korean –American pairs that placed first, second and third in the tournament.  In addition to the pool tournament there were games, vendors and, of course, no birthday would be complete with out a cake.
  

Capt. Christopher Clemente Jr. is assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Air Defense Artillery. The Fort Bliss Patriot battalion is currently deployed to South Korea.
